HelpPay, a new social fintech that takes the stigma out of asking for help, is pleased to have been named by Fintech Australia as a finalist in the Finnies Awards 2022.

The Finnies are the most recognised awards that celebrate the success of the Australian fintech industry. HelpPay has been named a finalist in the ‘Emerging FinTech Organisation of the Year’ category.

HelpPay turns every bill into a shareable link and payment page and uniquely, guarantees financial help given towards a bill goes straight through to the supplier. The 100% Australian owned company’s world-first, debt prevention technology takes the stigma out of asking for help and avoids the financial and mental health costs associated with debt collection.

According to market research conducted on behalf of HelpPay, 90% of Australians either agreed or strongly agreed that asking for financial help is not easy. The most common reason offered was "Having discussions about money is hard," with respondents reporting feeling ‘stress’ and ‘shame’ in overwhelming numbers.

While HelpPay was only launched in December, the company has already serviced thousands of users and provided help to pay nearly $500,000 worth of bills so far. Launched with exclusive energy launch partner Tango Energy, HelpPay has also seen bills uploaded from Origin Energy and Red Energy, as well as ANZ, Telstra, Optus, AAMI, Medibank and Qantas. Users have hailed from Victoria, NSW, South Australia and Queensland.

HelpPay Co-Founder and CEO Andrew Ellett said, “We’re thrilled to be named as a finalist for the Finnies Awards and want to thank the judges for taking an interest in our business. We think it should be easier to ask for help and to give it. We want to take the opportunity to thank every person that uses HelpPay, our tireless and hardworking teams, our partners and investors for joining the cause and wish to share with them this recognition from the Finnies Awards.”
